The Greek word "photo" means light, while "graph" means writing, drawing. The photographer is literally the one who draws with light, someone who writes and describes the world with light and shadow. Wim Wenders' film “Salt of the Earth”, about the excellent Brazilian photographer Sebastiano Salgano, begins with these words. In context with Christmas, between light and shadow, I remember with these photos who is only light, the light of the world.
