Who are you?

I asked while looking in the mirror

I saw my reflection, but I didn’t recognize myself

I couldn’t decide if the younger me

would be proud or disappointed

for the way I turned out

I’m trying my best! - I said to that person in the mirror

Was I trying my best?

I wasn’t sure what the answer would be

maybe I was just lying to myself

because the truth always hurts you.
